Flange facings dimensions according to standard EN 1092-1
Flange facings as per EN 1092-1 are critical for ensuring proper sealing between flanges. The standard defines various types of facings, including Flat Face (FF), Raised Face (RF), Tongue & Groove (T&G), Male & Female (M&F), and Ring Joint (RJ), each suited for different applications and pressure ratings. The most common is the Raised Face (RF), where the sealing surface is slightly raised around the bore to provide a tight seal when used with a ring gasket. The height of the raised face and the diameter of the sealing area depend on the pressure rating (PN), with higher pressure ratings requiring higher raised faces. For instance, flanges with a PN100 rating typically have a raised face height of about 7 mm. Properly defined dimensions and surface finishes (usually between 3.2 μm to 6.3 μm Ra) ensure effective sealing and prevent leaks in a variety of industrial applications.
